Troubleshooting

The chart assumes that the proper gas and pressure is available to the heater. The chart also assumes that the heater is used in accordance with Mr. Heater installation and operating instructions.
Problem Possible Cause Solution
Burners will not light Propane tank turned off Open tank valve
  Propane tank empty Get tank filled
  Heater regulator not turned on Turn valve to medium position
  Safety shutoff plunger not depressed Depress safety shutoff valve while lighting
  Air in manifold, hose or propane tank Purge air to unit
Hear gas but burners will not light (hissing) Air in propane tank Return tank to dealer to purge air
  Partially plugged orifice Clean or replace
Burner lights, turns red but will not stay on Thermocouple not secure Secure thermocouple
  Thermocouple out of position Position tip 3/16” to 3/8” from screen
  Defective thermocouple Replace thermocouple
  Safety shutoff defective Replace safety shutoff
Blue flame at top of heater screen New Unit. Goes away after unit heats up
  Just out of storage dirty Clean all openings with high press. Air and back tube with pipe cleaner or wire.
  Defective regulator allowing excessive gas flow. Replace regulator.
Blue flame only - never gets red Something in venture Clean venture with wire
  Orifice partially plugged High-pressure air clean out of venture/orifices
  Screen broken at top Replace screen
Connection at propane tank leaking gas after securing 'O-Ring' on POL missing or defective valve seat on cylinder worn Replace 'O' ring or POL, return to dealer
if tank valve is bad
Heater emits high-pitched sound Heater warming up No Danger - heater warming up. Sound will stop in 1-3 minutes
  Dirty gas orifice Remove and clean with small wire.
Unit makes a pop sound and a roar and rear starts glowing red Puff of wind, or dirt or spider in riser on back just above safety control valve or screen bad, called BACK FLASH. Turn Gas off.
Block from direct wind flow. Clean out riser tube with pipe cleaner and low pressure air. No explosion possible but very noisy.

WARRANTY
Mr. Heater warrants Mr. Heaters and accessories to be free from defects in material and Workmanship for a period of 1 year from date of purchase. Mr. Heater will repair or replace this Product free of charge if it has been proven to be defective within the 1 year period, and is Returned at customer expense with proof of purchase to Mr. Heater within the warranty period.
